Back from retreat

I am back from my secret visit to the east coast. I spent 4 days in New Hampshire at a beautiful B&B in Meredith with a dozen quilters from my old guild. I was the surprise guest! I took this picture from the inn’s website. It was NOT green in NH. We had snow and rain every day and it was COLD!! But we were warm and cozy inside. It was so great to be back together with my old friends. This group has been doing retreats together for over 10 years. These gals are family. And it was really special to have one of our founding guild members with us. Sara will be turning 92 this month and she is still quilting away. We all aspire to be like her.

With all that said, I was so busy catching up with everyone, sewing and shopping that I did not take a single photo but the memories are all in my heart. Did I mention that the inn was 5 minutes from Keepsake Quilts?! Of course we found time to stop there. And we did our part to help the NH economy.

Here are a few pictures of what I worked on.

I am obsessed with mini quilts! Although I promised myself I would work on my UFO projects, I had to make time for this little cutie.

These little quilts are making me a better sewer. These blocks finish at 2 inches. Lots of careful measuring and squaring up.

I completed all the blocks for this Valori Wells quilt. I fell in love with it 2 years ago when I saw it made up at Pacific International Quilt. The original is lap size but I made double the blocks so I can make it queen size with pillow shams. Hopefully I will have the top completed soon.

Last but not least I finally finished stitching the final block of a Crabapple Hill Studio quilt called Winter Wonderland. I believe I started it in 2008(?). Now that the blocks are stitched I can put it together for 2018 Christmas!!

The time went by so quickly and before I knew it I was back in Nevada and headed to work! 😢.

Today I spent some time in my sewing room unpacking and I pulled the next quilt top headed for the frame. Should have some pics soon. Til then, quilt til you wilt!

Finally finished!

These two quilts sat on my frame for far too long. I have been battling an infection for the past two weeks which really slowed me down but bit by bit I got them finished and I’m really happy with the results. They will be sent out once the little recipients arrive! And they are going to the same house! Yes Logan And Theresa will be arriving on April 17th.

I also completed my 3rd block for the Barbara Brackman Antebellum Album quilt. The directions called for the inset Y seams but I opted to use the NO y seam approach because I value my mental health 🤣. Despite that approach it still took me almost 2 hours.😳. Glad this is only 12 blocks but I am enjoying the challenges.

I am leaving for vacation on Wednesday and will be posting from there. Can’t say where I am going because a surprise is involved. So til then quilt til you wilt!
